Player Profile: Dyami Brown

Height: 6’1”
Weight: 185 lbs
School: North Carolina
NFL Comparison: CeeDee Lamb

Why you’re drafting him…

Brown has been awesome over the last two seasons, reeling in 106 balls for over 2,100 yards and 20 touchdowns. His college tape is incredible, and he reminds me A LOT of CeeDee Lamb. Not only does his tape give off Lamb vibes, but so do his size and his speed. He can make the contested catch, he dominates the middle of the field, and he’s got enough acceleration and breakaway speed to become a deep threat whenever needed. Funny enough, he was considered more of a vertical threat than anything in college, but I could see him owning a slot role given his skillset; he’s shifty and gritty in the open field and is no stranger to blocking if needed. His role will depend on which team he ends up playing for in the NFL, but he’s going to be on the field immediately wherever he goes. He’s a jack of all traits sort of receiver that could turn into one hell of a pro football player

Needs to improve…

While he looked great in the routes he had ran in college, I noticed that he seemed to run the same handful of routes over and over again. An expanded route tree will be something that he’ll absolutely have to develop before breaking out at the next level. While Brown does just fine with the contested catch, he’ll need to learn to be a bit more aggressive in the NFL as well

Prediction for 2021 NFL Draft…

Brown is likely a third-round receiver but could sneak his way into the tail end of the 2nd round. With that being said, I’m projecting him to go somewhere between 75-86 overall, with the most likely landing spots being with the Giants, Bears or Titans. I could see him fitting in well in one of these spots, though his ceiling may be highest in Tennessee with A.J. Brown taking the WR1 pressures away

Dynasty fantasy football spin…

Brown is going to be my go-to receiver in the middle of the 2nd round. While the hype hasn’t hit on him yet, Brown could very well be considered as a top-five rookie receiver for the 2021 class. Some may think it is optimistic of me to compare him to Lamb, I genuinely think that that’s what we’re going to get from Dyami Brown in the NFL. He’s the kind of guy that can bring consistency to a dynasty receiving corps while maintaining the ability to break off the home-run play at any given time. Don’t sleep on this kid, he’ll be worth the risk in your draft
