Player Profile: Rachaad White

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 210 lbs

School: Arizona State

NFL Comparison: Kenyan Drake

Why you’re drafting him…

White deserves to be known as one of the top-5 running backs of the 2022 draft class. For starters, his stats show tremendous efficiency. White carried the ball 224 times throughout two seasons with Arizona State and managed to average 6.3 yards per carry, while totaling 20 touchdowns as well. Not only that, but he emerged as a very competent pass-catcher and managed a 51-607-2 stat line in that department. When tasked with carrying the ball, White shows patience and poise behind his offensive line and seems to always be heading towards the hole. He’s very shifty in the backfield as well and has a track record for being able to wiggle his way out of trouble if/when the offensive line would break down. While he’s not the fastest running back of the class, he did impress with a 4.48 40-yard dash time at the combine… and that sort of speed is never a bad thing for running backs. White is a sneaky good running back that should catch a lot of hype as we get closer to the NFL Draft.

Needs to improve…

White has the capability to be an every-down player in the NFL, but there will need to be some improvements along the way. For starters, his abilities as a blocker are less than convincing. I wouldn’t call it a “struggle” area, but I can confidently say that the chances of him being the best blocker in his future running back room are slim to none. His path to fantasy success is dependent on his availability on 3rd downs, but bad blockers don’t get a ton of those types of opportunities in the NFL. I also previously commended his patience, but sometimes I think he may be too patient, which will limit his upside for those long, game-changing plays. Regardless, there are a lot more things to like about White than to dislike. If he can focus on improving a bit in these areas, I see no reason as to why he couldn’t have a majority role on whichever team decides to take him on draft day.

Prediction for 2022 NFL Draft…

Rachaad White has been creeping up draft boards lately and I think he’s got a legitimate shot at being a day two selection. If his name is called in round three (fingers crossed), I’d expect him to be going to Houston, Atlanta or Buffalo.

Dynasty fantasy football spin…

There’s a half-decent chance that White could be known as the RB2 of the class if he gets selected on day two to one of those teams I mentioned above (especially if it’s Buffalo). As of today (March 14th, 2022), White’s ADP over at FF Faceoff is #13 overall in 1QB leagues… but that’s going to change for the better if White is a day two pick. I’d expect him to move up into the top-10 overall in those rookie drafts if that were to happen, and even potentially into the top-5. If he doesn’t get drafted until day three, I’d assume that he’ll be drafted between 2.02 and 2.06 in those dynasty rookie drafts.
